When you watch the trailer of the movie,one thought that comes to your mind was,”It would be either good or a complete disaster.” But,the movie is impactful. It is 3 hours 22 minutes long and one can feel, you might not be able to sit through it.But, you will be able to do so. The reason is simple.The movie holds you till the end.The box office collection speaks for itself.
What works?
Fast Paced with a gripping storyline

An action movie can become quite boring if it is not backed by a good story.After a point the action seems to illogical,the killings just time pass and you lose interest.But,Animal has a good plot backing it and many interesting twists.It surprises you and you do get why the hero has gone berserk. The people he was dealing with could not be tackled with conversations or warnings.They were out to kill and maim.
Real and complex characters

For a change,the hero doesn’t stand upright just after a big fight.To be honest,in most of the movies the hero never gets injured in a fight and no bullets hit him. But,it was good to see something real here.
The father-son bond between Balbir Singh(Anil Kapoor)-Ranvijay Singh Balbir(Ranbir Kapoor) is truly carved in blood.The scene in the trailer gave you goosebumps already.And in the theatre it just amplifies a thousand times.The complexity of their relationship is something you would like to see.It is a message to every parent to give time and attention to their child. Marriage is not shown to be a rosy ride. No one is picture perfect in the movie. The decisions are complex and the choices are few.It makes the story interesting.

Ranbir Kapoor is brilliant. Till now,he has been mainly famous for his Chocolate Boy avatar.But,he has proved to everyone that he can play any character with full conviction.Rashmika Mandanna too has played her role with finesse. The strength and grace of the character are rightly portrayed.
Bobby Deol has proved his mettle. Why did he have such less screen time? This is one question everyone has been asking. With such less screen time,he has made an impact on everyone. His eyes and expressions did everything for the scene to hit the audience.
What Is Not right?
Treatment of women

The women have been objectified throughout the movie.From “Lick my shoe.” comment of Ranvijay or Abrar using his wives, it is purely misogynistic. This movie should not be taken as a way to see how women should be treated in society.”It is a man’s world!”, is a statement that wrongly puts forward the idea of how we should look at the world around us.
Violence does not stop!

The violence does not end. It’s a never-ending cycle. If you are triggered by violence,please don’t watch the movie.The trailer already gives a glimpse of it. And the movie has it to an extreme. The level of cruelty is not something we are used to seeing on screen. It’s has gone beyond our expectations.
Wrong Message to the youth

This movie should not at all be seen with an idea to get a message across.It is not suitable for that.Violence,disrespect or cheating should not form the basis of any individual. Killing people is not the ideal way to deal with a situation. So,please don’t go there for life lessons.
Conclusion
It is a well-written and well-directed movie. But it’s neither a movie to learn how to behave in society nor a message to everyone about what an ideal society should be. It is a message to every young boy or girl,what you should not do in life.It is a good movie if you can take a movie as to what it truly is- A STORY
If you want to go to the theatre to watch a well-written and well-portrayed story with powerful performances,then you will enjoy the show.But,in case you want a simple and sweet experience,this movie is not for you! So, all the best and decide accordingly.
