Jolly LLB 3 brings Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi together for another legal comedy!
The third installment of the Jolly LLB Universe almost lives up to the expectations of the audiences. The key word is “almost.” Let’s see what goes right and what does not.
What works!
Comedy Factor
Situations are funny, and you are going to laugh for sure. The first half is engaging, capturing a social issue side by side. To show an issue of corruption and farmer suicide and not make it overwhelming for the audience has been possible only with the strong element of comedy in it.
Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi both have a comic timing that is rare, and it could be seen on-screen. But who takes the crown? Justice Sunder Lal Tripathi, aka Saurabh Shukla. You might go in for Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi but come out as a fan of this actor. His responses to situations are hilarious and uplift the film to another level.
Acting prowess
Jolly LLB 3’s acting element cannot go wrong when you have two masters together. Akshay Kumar (Jolly No. 2) and Arshad Warsi (Jolly No. 1) have their own enemies-to-besties arc, and it is well written for sure. Gajraj Rao too plays an arrogant businessman, Hairanbhai, with conviction. His expressions are enough to convey what he thinks.
Saurabh Shukla is one of the biggest fun factors in the movie. The permanent judge of the Jolly LLB Universe is full of sarcasm and logic and brings out justice in a manner that not just makes you understand it but laugh along. He brings out one of the most important messages to remember when we think about our constitution—for it to be followed not just in letter but also in spirit, which is at times missing in our system.
Ram Kapoor and Seema Biswas put out strong performances despite their limited roles. Amrita Rao and Huma Qureshi have a limited screen presence but complement the storyline.
What does not work!
Courtroom Drama is missing!
If you have already watched the first two installments, then when you go into the theater, you might expect more of the courtroom drama. But, almost the whole movie focuses on developing the background of the movie. The actual case comes late into the picture. By that time, most of the film has already finished, and now the case has to be wrapped up fast for the movie to finish on time. And this is what happens, leaving the audience disappointed.
Writing has a glitch!
Though the writing is decent and engaging most of the time, by the end you feel like the logic is missing somewhere. The arguments by the opposition look weak, and you feel like the win came easy, especially looking at the legal part of the movie. Most of the writing went into building up to the scenes of the court, but the courtroom scenes, especially from the opposite side, could have been more engaging and tougher to contend with. It looks easy, and so it brings down the charm of the legal aspect of the movie.
Jolly LLB 3, despite the pitfalls, is a good movie. You will laugh and have fun, and by the end of the movie, the social message will be etched in your heart. It is a family entertainer for sure! If you still not watched the trailer, you can watch it below!
